Activities
reforms could give Turkey the opportunity
to differentiate positively from other
emerging markets on a medium and
long term.
Despite the deceleration in economic
activity, the banking sector
maintained its healthy growth
trajectory.
The banking sector, operating in lower
economic growth environment compared to
recent years, continued to expand steadily
in 2015. The macro-prudential measures,
implemented since 2014, put downward
pressure on retail lending, while the
expansion in the loan volume was largely
a result of increases in corporate and
commercial loans.
Deposits remained the main funding source
of the sector, while alternative funding
sources were also utilized effectively. The
fact that banks can still continue their
external borrowing activities, despite
the uncertainties in the markets, is
regarded as a positive sign. Furthermore,
the Basel III regulations that are put into
effect gradually have become one of the
determinant factors in the growth of the
banking sector in the recent period, as in
other countries.
Thanks to its extensive services
network, İşbank has continued to
add value to Turkey’s economy for 91
years.
İşbank, founded 91 years ago, has
successfully adapted to changes
around the globe and in Turkey since
its establishment. Thanks to its strong
corporate culture, the Bank has been able
to preserve its core values, thereby creating
further added value for its shareholders
since it was first established.
İşbank continued to expand its services
network in 2015, increasing its total
number of branches to 1,354 and ATMs to
6,582. With its extensive services network,
İşbank has always aimed to be the bank that
is closest to its customers.
İşbank always takes a leading role with its
high added value products and services
in all aspects of economic and business
activity. In addition, the Bank has always
supported Turkish entrepreneurs operating
in foreign markets, especially those in
Turkey’s close neighbourhood.
We continued efforts to expand our
network in foreign markets in 2015. Our
Georgia organization, consisting of Batumi
and Tbilisi branches, began to operate
under the umbrella of “İşbank Georgia”
as of 3 August 2015. İşbank Georgia has
obtained the banking license from the
authorities and the Company’s capital is
fully owned by İşbank. With this addition,
as of the end of 2015, our Bank is providing
services in 14 countries, with 53 branches,
2 representative offices and more than
800 employees in foreign and domestic
branches, representative offices and
financial subsidiaries.
With a total of approximately 57 thousand
employees and 106 affiliated companies,
İşbank is one of Turkey’s largest financial
groups. The İşbank Group creates
permanent value not only with the
employment it generates, but also with the
commercial activities it undertakes.
İşbank plays a pioneering role in
social development as well.
The founding mission of İşbank has been to
contribute to the foundation, development
and advancement of Turkey in all aspects.
Since its establishment, İşbank has
embraced a pioneering role in economic
development and social advancement. With
its long-term social responsibility projects,
İşbank continues to generate added value
for society.
We continue our social responsibility
activities which have been designed to fit
the needs of our country and our society in
education, environment, arts and culture in
a long-lasting, sustainable and widespread
manner. Thereby, we share some of the
added value generated as a result of our
commercial activities with the society and
sustain our contribution through various
channels.
As a corporate citizen who is aware of its
responsibilities, İşbank will continue to
create added value for all its stakeholders in
line with its founding mission.
İşbank will continue to be Turkey’s
bank in the future.
İşbank aims to continually increase the
added value it creates for shareholders
by being a bank that produces fast,
effective and high-quality solutions to
meet customer needs and encouraging
its employees to function at the highest
possible performance rate.
Our Bank will continue to closely follow
developments around the globe and in
Turkey and raise the standards of banking
in Turkey. İşbank will keep generating added
value for its shareholders by sustaining
support to the economy, thereby remaining
Turkey’s bank.
Taking this opportunity, I would like to
express my sincere thanks to all our
employees, our business partners as well
as our customers who have always placed
their trust in us, on behalf of our Board of
Directors, shareholders and myself.
Yours sincerely,
H. Ersin Özince
